Bites hard to come by on your water after the carp have spawned? Then try this:

With water temperatures up and the carp in his local water having recently spawned, Solar Tackle team member Fred Ducros has been doing exceptionally well on 'little traps'.

Fred has been dropping a handful of prepared hemp onto likely looking margin spots and fishing an 11mm Pineapple pop-up over the top, dropping the hemp, hook bait and rig all at the same time using the baiting spoon.
With the hook bait popped up no more than 1cm off the bottom Fred's been 'slaying 'em', and a lovely 28lb+ mirror is his latest result using this technique.

"The carp haven't been in the mood to feed heavily and bites have been hard to come by," he explains. "However, they are willing to drop onto a small patch of bait, providing it's positioned on a patrol route, so they easily come across it. The hook bait is positioned close to the lake bed so that it's easy for them to take into their mouth as they feed on the hemp. A high pop-up could be ignored/missed. Also, I have found that a small, hi-via hook bait gets the quickest bite."
