This impressive 45lb common has been landed by team member Julien Porquest from a pressured, big-fish venue. A Candy Floss pop-up fished over The Originals did the business.

A session on a local syndicate water for team member Ignace de Roeck has seen him land three carp to 34lb+, producing an impressive result in some tough, late-autumn conditions while out using the TunaMino test boilies. Ignace explains:

“I’ve just come back from a 2-day session at the Waesmeer syndicate. My first night was a real hit, especially in the cold and hard conditions. It only took 4 hours of fishing before the first rod produced a bite. After a hectic, but short, battle I landed a beautiful linear of about 13lb.

“It’s a new stocked fish from this year and it’s looking very promising for the near future. At around midnight the same rod took off again. The drill was similar, so I suspected that it would be the same size of carp as the first. When I landed it though I was surprised to see a 24lb common laying in the folds of my landing net. I was very pleased with it, but it still wasn’t the kind of carp I was after.

“Putting the rod back in position and rebaiting the area with some TunaMino freebies it was time for the warm sleeping bag. At 6am another bite came along. At first I thought it was a bream. The Titanium indicator just lifted slightly and dropped back a little, nothing more than that.

“This time the fight was completely different, slow and heavy… much more promising! When I first saw the fish I knew that this was a better one, and soon enough a 34lb+ mirror was mine.

“The thing that I love most about autumn fishing is that the fish are looking at their best. They’re worth waiting for, and the extra effort you have to put in is always worth it in the end.

“As expected it was very quiet during the day. I had my sights on the next night, but unfortunately the weather changed and the overnight stayed very calm and quiet. At this time a year the fishing can be so unpredictable that you never know what’s going to happen. Let’s hope that the carp are going to stay active for a while longer yet.”
