Last Updated: 21st August 2012Thirteen-year-old Mark Whibley smashed his PB by 10lb recently with this mirror of 39lb from Rainbow Lake in the south of France. Mark stepped up to the challenge and followed in his father’s footsteps, as dad Dave Whibley had banked a PB on the same session with a 65lb 8oz mirror while fishing with Solar Tackle boss Martin Locke in peg 19.
Despite his young age, Mark is an experience carp angler, having caught his first carp at the age of five, a 23lb mirror from Oxlease Lake in Oxfordshire. This was Mark’s second trip to the iconic French venue where he opted to concentrate on using one rod during daylight hours and not fishing at night.
A Club Mix hook bait fished over a bed of Club Mix, hemp, maize and mixed particles was the winning method and Mark had to take to the boat, with dad, to land his biggest-ever carp.
