What’s more natural to a carp than a piece of weed? They eat it, live in it. It offers them cover. Basically they love the stuff. So instead of trying to make your end tackle disappear, we have made it look like the carp’s favourite thing. No longer will they spook off your tubing, leaders, leads or hooklinks, they will simply see it as just another piece of weed. Brilliant!
The Weedeffect range comes in two colours which blend in perfectly depending on the type of weed in your lake. There are no loops in the construction of it so hooks don’t get caught up. To be on the safe side simply add a piece of water soluble foam which you would probably do anyway. The material that this range is made from is soft making it feel like the real thing and importantly fish friendly. It sinks slowly, just like a piece of weed.
The Weedeffect range has ready to use straight from the packet leaders, leads and hooklinks as well as hooklink and leader material that can be spliced to construct your own set ups. Here we’re taking a look at the ready to use from the packet items.
First are the leaders.They are 1m in length with spliced loops at either end. There is a piece of shrink tube over the splice to ensure there is no chance of it coming undone. The spliced loop at one end is slightly longer then the other to allow for a tail rubber and lead clip to be slid on as was well joining onto a swivel. That can be done by passing the spliced loop through one eye of the swivel and then passing it over the rest of the swivel. Just follow the diagrams to see how. At the other end we recommend tying a figure of eight loop in your mainline and joining onto the leader by passing the mainline loop through the small spliced loop and then passing the whole leader through the mainline loop. The leads are nothing short of amazing. They are the spitting image of a stone covered in weed or algae. Even in two feet of crystal clear water they become part of the lake bed. The make up of the Weedeffect will absorb and take on the bottom debris making it even more lifelike the more you use it. These leads come in 2oz 3oz and 4oz and are the distance lead shape but will also work incredibly well when stalking crystal clear margins.
The Weedeffect hooklinks are ready to go straight from the pack. They can be fished with a pop up, critically balanced or bottom bait equally well.
They come rigged with a super sharp size 6 long shank hook which can easily be changed for a different size or pattern if you prefer. Follow the diagrams below for an easy to follow how to change the hook. This way you can keep using the same hooklink even if the hook becomes blunt. Just swap it for a new sharp one. Simple!
