The zip extends along it entire length, except for the last few inches so the fish's nose and tail don't slip out. The yellow webbing provides support and a visual means of checking that the carp is straight for weighing, which is easily done by hooking the webbing onto the scales and not having to hunt for the cord or metal tags on some standard slings.

The sling can also be used as a short-term retainer while you sort out the camera, or your hair!
